August Church News

Antioch

-Pastor Dave Vogt celebrated his 12th year as lead pastor at Antioch on July 1st!

-Our youth enjoyed a campout and river float trip at the beginning of June. As they floated down the James River, they reflected on how navigating the river parallels our walk with God—reminding us that when we trust Him, He will faithfully direct our paths. The adventure continued back at the campsite, where the group enjoyed swimming, fishing, and dinner. A true highlight of the weekend was spending a special time in worship together around the campfire, wrapping up the night with s'mores and great fellowship.

-This week our youth are putting their faith into action (July 18th–25th), as they are in Lynchburg, Virginia, for missions ministry with Mission Serve, where the team will be doing construction ministry, specifically building roofs for individuals and families in need while also reaching out to locals and showing them the love of Jesus.

-We had an incredible week during the last week in June at our VBS  Illumination Station: Shining a Light on Who Jesus Really Is! Based on John 8:12, our church was filled with energy, joy, and the light of Christ as all age groups gathered to dive deep into God’s Word. Each night was packed with high-energy games, creative crafts, delicious food, and life-changing Bible lessons.

Average Nightly Attendance: 108 comprising babies, children, youth and adults.

Mission Offering: Together, we raised $776.46 to support the Hope for Appalachia mission!

Eternal Impact: Praise God, 4 precious souls were saved during VBS!

-Antioch's homecoming is this Sunday, July 26th and we have Pastor Matt Gowin from Scottsville Baptist Church as our guest speaker.

Buckingham

The Buckingham Annie Armstrong Easter Offering was $2080.00

Our contribution to RAH was $600.00, along with a $100.00 contribution to the Pregnancy Center in Farmville.    On Mother's Day, several mothers were recognized and each mother received a gift from the church. A special video was played emphasizing the importance of mothers.   On Father's Day, several fathers were recognized with each father receiving a small gift from the church, and a special video was played for fathers.

Homecoming was held on July 12 with evangelist Jerry Gray leading the service.  The musical group, Glory Bound, provided a concert before the worship service.  Following the worship service, lunch was served in the fellowship hall with everyone in attendance enjoying the food and fellowship.  Revival followed  Monday through Wednesday with a packed church.  Special music was provided each night by the River Bottom Bluegrass Band featuring Roger Woodson on Monday, Barry Snoddy on Tuesday, and Smokey Wilson on Wednesday.
